Project Arboretum is a women-led environmental and cultural organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and celebration of living landscapes. Based in the Pacific Northwest, it operates at the intersection of ecology, horticulture, education, and storytelling.
The organization works to rescue and restore gardens, orchards, and threatened cultivated spaces while documenting their ecological and cultural histories. Through immersive fieldwork, public programs, and media production, Project Arboretum builds awareness of the importance of stewardship and the quiet value of living landscapes in everyday life.
Project Arboretum is not only a restoration organization, but also a growing cultural institution—building archives, educational pathways, and media that document the relationship between people and place. Its goal is to make ecological stewardship visible, emotionally resonant, and enduringly valued across generations.
Project Arboretum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 2025 by a group of friends in rural Washington. The organization is a grassroots effort to provide an outdoor recreational venue where women can find purpose and community.

Project Arboretum exists to protect and restore living landscapes while deepening humanity’s connection to the natural world. We combine hands-on ecological restoration with education, storytelling, and community engagement to preserve gardens, orchards, and cultivated ecosystems as cultural and environmental heritage.

Project Arboretum exists to protect and restore living landscapes while deepening humanity’s connection to the natural world. We combine hands-on ecological restoration with education, storytelling, and community engagement to preserve gardens, orchards, and cultivated ecosystems as cultural and environmental heritage.
Project Arboretum bridges science, culture, and storytelling to make ecological stewardship a shared human practice.
At its core, the mission is simple: restore what is living, preserve what is meaningful, and ensure future generations inherit landscapes that are both ecologically resilient and deeply loved.

By 2050 and beyond, Project Arboretum will be a globally recognized environmental and cultural institution dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the world’s living landscapes.

By 2050 and beyond, Project Arboretum will be a globally recognized environmental and cultural institution dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the world’s living landscapes.
It will operate as a hybrid of conservation authority, media institution, and educational network—similar in scope to the public influence of National Geographic Society, the horticultural excellence of Royal Horticultural Society, the immersive destination experiences of Longwood Gardens, and the conservation legacy model of the Jane Goodall Institute.
Its long-term vision is to become a trusted global authority on “living landscapes”—protecting gardens, orchards, and cultivated ecosystems as essential infrastructure for ecological health, cultural memory, and human wellbeing.
Project Arboretum envisions a world where restoration is not exceptional work, but a normal expression of how societies care for the land.
